Ruby Rose admits throwing French fries at a New Orleans bartender, but claims it was a result of him making fun of her sobriety. She also disputes how long she and her group waited for food at Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen before what Rose terms her “Fry-day the 13th” incident.

In a long response to Gossip Cop and other outlets’ reports about Rose throwing French fries at a bartender at a New Orleans restaurant before deejaying Friday at Metropolitan Nightclub, the “Orange Is The New Black” star writes her side of the story on Facebook. She begins by contesting Rebellion owner Seung Hong’s timeline, claiming she and her group “waited 60 minutes for fries and over 90 minutes for food that never actually arrived.”

Rose continues, “When I asked about it, the bartender offered us drinks. I explained I’m sober, but thank you.
He then made some really rude and vulgar comments to the table.” Explaining why she threw French fries at the bartender, Rose reasons, “When someone makes repeated derogatory jokes about the sobriety I worked so hard to achieve, it’s hard not to react emotionally. So I threw a singular fry at him. Then he came back as we were getting ready to leave and continued making awful comments, so I continued with the fries.”

“I am deeply regretful to the French fry and I am regretful that I reacted at all,” writes Rose, before adding, “Maybe next time I won’t throw fries, then again, maybe next time that bartender won’t tell someone who is sober to ‘go call your f**king sponsor!'”

Rose ended her Facebook account of what happened by noting, “I worked in hospitality for 5 years and I have huge love, respect and admiration for servers around the world and how hard they work. I also have mad love for New Orleans and I want to come back 100 times if you will have me. Next time, dinner at my place.”

As Gossip Cop reported, Hong has a different take on the events. He says her party did not have a reservation, but he managed to get them a table, though he warned there would be a wait for food. After being served their appetizers and entrees in under an hour, Rose had a “tantrum,” alleges Hong, who called her “horrible” and “awful.” He similarly says he and his bartender offered a round of free drinks, but Rose refused. While both sides agree Rose threw a handful of fries at the bartender, Rebellion’s staff disagrees with Rose’s allegation that her sobriety was mocked. Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Rose for comment.
